Im going to show you how to speak to a live human being at the IRS (Internal Revenue Service).. how many times have you called the IRS and you get a bunch of computer or robots prompt, you press 1 for English, two for personal taxes, 3 for form 1040, and so on and on and on..
it never ends,, finally, when you think you have reached the end.. you get a recording, we are sorry, we are unable to connect you at this moment..
i know, i know, its frustrating. over the years, their phone system has become more sophisticated and is able to help more people. I am sure they have put up alot of money for this system to work. did you know there is an 800 number you can call and report your frustrations? if you need it, just reply to me and i will publish it.
look, everyone knows the government is on a low budget now, so getting an agent on the phone is not going to be easy. so its up to citizens like us to try to figure out how we can connect to a human person.
these methods have worked in the past. as they upgrade their system, it may not work, but as new methods are discovered, please leave your comments so we know how to get a live person.
1. call 1-800-829-1040, press 1 for english and then just stay on the line, don't press anything, after a while, a live person will come on the phone. dont' expect this person to assist you with your issue, but atleast you got a live person, at this time, tell the agent what you need and they will connect you to the correct department.
2. call 1-800-829-1040, after the recording comes on, press the # sign on the phone five times, after the 5th time, you will get a recording to wait for an agent.. be patient, because sometimes, you will have to wait up to 30 minutes
3. call 1-800-829-1040, enter your social security number, you will need your social security number, otherwise, the recording will hang up on you. from now on, they made a requirement that every caller must have their social security number to enter the system. i guess this is for security reasons to protect your identity. after you have called the 800 number follow these prompts: 1, 2, 2, 4, 1
please let me know if any of these methods work. If any of these methods work, remember, their prompt service is pretty good, you can get alot of information from their automated system, you just have to be patient and follow the prompt with what you need.
